After Setes Cidades, we headed to Ferraria, where there is a thermal spa and pool, and also a natural thermal pool in the water (above). It was approaching high tide, so the natural pool was a bit less defined, colder, and rougher than felt safe, but it was beautiful. (The ropes in the water are to keep you from getting pulled out or smashed into or under the rocks. It looks calm, but the water was moving in and out quickly.)
Here you can really see the black lava rock that is characteristic of the island and how the lava flowed down into the ocean. The sand at the beaches is black too.
